Many Chaffinches were pestering a squirrel near the car parks and a Robin, Greenfinches and a Blackbird were in the area also along with 14 x Jackdaws in a tree overlooking the Red house. In the football fields there were 20 x Starlings and BHG's (Black Headed Gulls). Walking towards Newton Road along the main path I saw a Mistle Thrush near the new pavillion. Turning down the hill towards the ponds there were 2 x Dunnock in the hedges and more Starlings. Goldfinches were observed and heard singing away. The snowdrops seem to be sprouting up all over the park now so I decided to take a photo. A single Redwing was also flying around the woodland near to where this photo was taken.
On the ponds ice was covering half of the water but there was quite a few Tufted Ducks swimming along with Swans, BHG's, Canada Geese, Mallards, Coots, Moorhens, 6 x Gadwall and a pair of Shoveler. 3 x Wrens were seen along with a Song Thrush, a few Robins and Long Tailed Tits.
Other additions that were seen frequently around the park were: Blue Tits, Great Tits, Magpies, Pigeons and Crows.
On the return home I managed to take this photo of a cheeky squirrel having a good scratch - although the picture does look like it is sunbathing.
